Bancha
Bancha belongs to the group of green teas. It is extracted from the Camellia sinensis bush, the same bush from which Sencha tea is obtained. Sencha is made from the first harvest of delicate, young tea leaves. Bancha, on the other hand, is the so-called late harvest tea (harvested in late summer, autumn and even sometimes winter). Bancha from the second harvest, obtained at the earliest - at the end of summer, traditionally called nibancha, is distinguished. It is characterized by the highest quality. Bancha from the third harvest - is sanbancha, and from the fourth harvest is yonbancha. In commodity trade, all three harvests bear the single name Bancha. Bancha is produced from harder, coarsely veined leaves with stems. In Japan, it is one of the most popular teas. However, it is little known in Europe. On the Old Continent it is a beverage valued mainly by macrobiotics and vegetarians.
