Jamaican blue mountains coffee at its finest, made from blue-green beans, is one of the best coffees in the world. Mild, with fruity notes, sour but without bitterness. The aroma of Jamaica is extraordinary - intense and strong, and the taste is extremely persistent, developing on the palate and providing a whole wealth of sensations. The first seedlings were brought to Jamaica by Sir Nicholas Lawes in 1725 and planted in St. Andrew's Parish, which is still one of the blue mountain parishes. The island's climate proved so favorable for coffee cultivation that by 1814 there were 600 plantations. The cool and misty aura, abundant rains, fertile and permeable soil - the perfect combination for coffee growth. True blue mountain is grown at Wallenford, Mavis Bank and Moy Hall plantations. The local producers are mostly small landowners whose families have been farming the land for two hundred years. The blue mountain plantations are some of the highest coffee crops in the world. The terraced fields use mixed farming - coffee grows among banana and avocado trees. The highest quality Jamaican coffee requires precise roasting for the best flavor. Standard roasting is too strong to bring out the subtle fruity notes of blue mountain coffee - if you want to enjoy the best of its delicate flavor, choose light roasted beans.
