Assam province is a region in the northeast of India where a tea variety called Camellia assamica is grown. Due to its high quality, the leaves of this variety are often used to refine lower grade tea blends. Teas from the Assam region are ranked among the top five teas in the world. The TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) standard denotes the main class of teas from the Assam and Darjeeling regions, containing large amounts of so-called golden tips, i.e. the first two leaves from the bush along with the buds. The infusion has a brownish amber color and a strong, tart, but at the same time sweet taste. A cup of Assam tea adds energy and refreshes perfectly.
