A day without coffee is a lost day for many of us. And while drinking it, have you ever wondered how many people around the world think the same?   1. It is generally accepted that there are 2 types of coffee grown in the world: Arabica and Robusta. However, it is important to remember that each of them has many different varieties, and there are also their crossbreds. There is, therefore, plenty to choose from.
  2. Arabica accounts for 70% of the total harvest, which is why it is considered the most popular grade of coffee. The remaining 30% of the market belongs to Robusta.
  3. Coffee production is a very important part of the economy of more than 70 regions of the world, located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Plantations are thus located in the Americas, Asia, Oceania and Africa.
  4. Nearly 10 million tons of coffee are produced worldwide each year, with plantations spread over 10 million hectares!
  5. The world's largest coffee producer is Brazil. The country grows nearly 3 billion coffee trees and produces nearly 2.5 million tons of coffee a year.
  6. Each coffee tree begins to bear fruit 3-4 years after planting, and then bears seeds for about 30 years.
  7. It is worth knowing that coffee is not just the business of large corporations. Around the world, as many as 25 million small producers are involved in its production.

  9. Every year the people of our globe drink as many as 40 billion cups of delicious, aromatic coffee.
  10. In terms of coffee consumption by country, Finland has the most kilograms per citizen - as much as 13 kg per year. The European average is 4.7 kg.
  11. The average European drinks 4 coffees each day, which amounts to 160 liters of the beverage per head annually.
  12. Poles slightly underperform the European average - we consume about 3.5 kg of coffee per person each year.
  13. Buying good quality coffee these days is no problem at all, as coffee shops are springing up like mushrooms in every corner of the world. In Italy alone, the "little black" is reportedly served in more than 150,000 cafes and bars!
  14. Looking at store statistics, the most popular coffee is ground coffee. It accounts for as much as 64% of global turnover. The second place is occupied by bean coffee (24%), followed by various types of instant blends, with a much worse result.
  15. A cup of espresso contains about 60-65 mg of caffeine, and the daily consumption of this substance in an adult should not exceed 0.5 g. This means that every day we can drink as many as 5 cups of "small black" without harming our health.
